Tulasi Manjari
The cornerstone of Bhakti yoga is cooking;
it is often called the "kitchen religion." Vegetarian
preparations are made and then offered to Krsna,
the Supreme Personality of Godhead.
He accepts dishes that are in the "mode of goodness."
Therefore, meat dishes, made from dead animals, because they
contain blood, mucus and other foul elements,
are unacceptable.
Not eggs either, since they are interrupted embryos.
When A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami came to the U.S.
in 1965, he taught his disciples to be good cooks. For many who
were drug addicts, this became a means of cleansing.
Even to this day, the Hare Krsna temples distribute
thousands of plates of "prasadam" each year.
It is oftentimes the reason many disillusioned young people
attend a meeting. At that time they will also hear
the ancient teachings
of the Bhagavad-Gita in its' correct translation through the
Gaudiya-Vaishnava Sampradaya. On the left, we have two
excellent chefs on this page who can get you
started with some traditional vegetarian
Indian recipes, although the pizza
is obviously a delicious exception. I would like to
thank both Kurma & Manjula for their expertise,
professionalism and devotion.

Preparations are offered on the altar to the
Supreme Personality of Godhead
before being distributed to the devotees
or to the public. Krsna consciosness or bhakti-yoga
is different from other forms of yoga
in that it engages the living
entity in his/her devotional constitutional position
as a servant of God (Krsna).Cooking, in fact all of our daily activities, can
be offered to Krsna, thus giving the result to Him.
Kurma das making Chapatis.
